The U.S. Surgeon General recently issued a public health advisory on the stress and mental health burden affecting parents and caregivers. The report states that nearly half of parents said their stress is overwhelming most days due to various factors, including the cost of child care, finances, lack of support and social stressors from social media. The advisory also highlights that "both maternal and paternal mental health conditions are shown to impact thewell-being of children."This is not new information for many parents and organizations that serve families, but the overwhelming burden parents face is now being seen and addressed as a public health issue. At IEHP Foundation, we recognize that local CBOs and nonprofits are instrumental in supporting parents and young families to help address health and financial disparities that drive many of these stressors. Our next IE Vibrant Health Forum: Strong from the Start: Early Childhood Wellness & Connections to Care, will focus on how local CBOs can assist families in connecting with the services and resources necessary to ensure that the youngest residents of the Inland Empire receive the care they need for long and healthy lives. The event will allow community leaders and organizations to hear from leading childhood health experts as they share recent data, trends, best practices and resources to help you serve and continue to support families with children ages 0-5. Our latest version of The Spark focuses on prioritizing health and wellness in our communities. At IEHP Foundation, we recognize the instrumental role community-based organizations (CBOs) and partners like you all have in providing resources and access to those essential health and safety needs while fostering a sense of belonging throughout your communities. We are excited to be part of some of those community-driven initiatives by supporting the launch of the Blue Zones Project in various communities throughout Riverside County, participating in the regional Vital Conditions Network and supporting vital community-based organizations by strengthening their infrastructure and capacity. There is an emerging momentum to prioritize and expand health and wellness across the Inland Empire. By working collaboratively with all of you, we can ensure that every resident's needs are met, paving the way for everyone to lead healthy and thriving lives. Thank you to Grantmakers In Health for featuring IEHP Foundation's CEO Greg Bradbard in August's Grantmaker in Focus! “At IEHP Foundation, our work centers around health equity to ensure that our region becomes a beacon of Vibrant Health—meaning everyone has a fair chance to be as healthy as possible. By working with our community partners to strengthen their organizational capacity and to help them identify those health equity issues they are addressing, we can ensure that more individuals in our region access the core needs such as humane housing, easily accessible nutritious food, quality health care, meaningful work, and education to live a healthy and joyful life.”

It was an honor to host the San Bernardino Fatherhood's Annual Leadership Summit for Fatherhood. This year's event theme, "Creating positive outcomes for Black mothers and infants by intentionally including fathers in the birthing process," brought together over 40 community leaders and maternal health organizations to raise awareness of the importance of engaging fathers in maternal and infant health programs. We thank San Bernardino Fatherhood for their dedication to advancing Vibrant Health in the region!

Champion for Vibrant Health Spotlight: CCS Education and Wellness Center 🌟 CCS Education and Wellness Center is a new nonprofit, but they’ve provided vital mental and behavioral health services for families throughout the Inland Empire for 15 years. “Since we started, we’ve always identified a need in the community and tried to fill it,” said Chief Operating & Finance Officer Sherry Shockey-Pope. “That’s why we established the nonprofit in 2022.” The nonprofit works with local universities to leverage student therapists, often in their final semester of a graduate program, to provide services while enhancing their skills and gaining client care hours through the supervision of licensed therapists. Through this unique program and collaboration with other nonprofits, the organization can increase the number of clients it serves and expand its reach. We recently spoke with Chief Operating & Finance Officer Sherry Shockey-Pope after she and her colleague completed the Collaborative Capacity Building Grant about the importance of investing in nonprofit business operations and some of the trends and challenges they see as behavioral health experts.Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gGmY2NXw

Celebrating our Champions for Vibrant Health! 🌟 60 nonprofits from San Bernardino and Riverside counties participated in our Collaborative Capacity Building Grant, designed to strengthen CBOs’ business operations and infrastructure. After completing a 10-course business training course from our partner Caravanserai Project, the organizations received a $5,000 grant to build infrastructure, including professional services, software, equipment, and other general operating and non-programmatic expenses. After gaining essential leadership and business development skills, we are confident that these organizations will be better equipped to expand their reach, services and resources to help inspire and ignite the health of the Inland Empire. #ChampionsforVibrantHealth
